Gold Titanium Nitride Lakeline Stainless Steel Magazine Release Button to fit the Taurus GX4.
  • Factory height mag release that is contoured with the grip.
  • Ridged texture for tactile feedback without snagging
  • Constructed of 17-4 PH stainless steel
  • Black finish
  • Engineered and Made in the U.S.A.
While testing our GX4s, we found that some shooters with really large fingers were having issues unintentionally releasing the mag while shooting.  The factory mag release projects straight forward, along the barrel axis, and does not follow the contour of the grip, making it easy for a finger near it to release it during recoil. Most of us love the factory mag release!

It is certainly easy to find and release.  Usually, if we produce an accessory mag release, it is an extended version so it is easier to find and release.  In this case, the factory one is very easy to release, and is so much so that is a problem for some shooters.  So, this one is aimed at making it less likely to inadvertently drop the mag while firing. The fit and finish is superb.  The texture is easy to feel yet doesn't want to snag.  The contour of the button matches the frame,  so it doesn't stick out so a holster doesn't want to release the mag unintentionally.  By following the contour of the frame, it solves the problem of a couple times per mag having the mag release for all the shooters we tested with.

Again, it seems to be only our shooters with really large fingers that had this issue.  If the factory one works great for you, there is no reason to change it. You will reuse your factory spring with this mag button.

FYI, the mag release in the Taurus pistols is not easy to change, or reverse if you are a lefty.  Like everything, it gets easier with practice.  Here is the best video I have found on how it is done.  As usual, it always looks easier in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGZ02J03uGQ

FINISHES. Metal parts that rub together or make contact with other metal parts will get visibly marked, scratched, or burnished. Even very hard finishes, like the black nitride and gold TiN finishes we use will wear and that will be visible. Stainless parts will also get scratched, burnished, and show where they rub and touch other parts. This is normal and is not a defect. We have seen that when we replace a barrel in one of our pistols, the new barrel seems to show the same sort of wear pattern as the barrel we removed.

Not low profile enough for me.

This is a well made part, but didn't solve my problem with the mag being too easy to release. I wish it was lower profile, or better yet, included a stronger mag release spring.

Excellent, and well made magazine release

Posted by Tactical Black on 3rd May 2023

This is a must have upgrade over the stock plastic magazine release. This SS magazine release has an excellent color & look, better serrations, great feel, and a fantastic upgrade. It will not accidentally release magazine.
